There is one scene where a child is hiding in a cupboard.  James sticks a sword through the cupboard and kills him.

One of the scenes where he is kissing Lady MacBeth.  You can hear the kissing, and at one point he properly moans and it’s just….you’re melting in your seat.  He picks her up and drags her passionately across the stage too, it’s all just…brain dead.

1) If you haven’t bought tickets for the play yet but are wanting to see it, BOOK THE FIRST ROW!!!!!!!  The stage…well, there isn’t a stage, there is nothing raised off ground level, it IS ground level, so those sitting at the front are literally part of the stage. James and the other actors come so close to you people there have to move their legs out the way, and sometimes they even deliberately go right up to you.  When James first comes on he runs across the stage brandishing a sword and an axe SCREAMING at the top of his lungs and slides to his knees at the feet of one of the people in the front row, still screaming at them!  You could actually say you’ve had James on his knees in front of you ;) Basically, you could reach out and glomp him had you so wished, so front row people. I was in the 4th row, so still bloody close:

2)  His eyes people, HIS EYES! They’re so blue they stand out above everything, it’s really very memorising.

3)  Most of the play he is covered in blood.  This should not be as attractive as it is. At the end there is the fight scene between MacBeth and McDuff and it’s proper choreographed fighting, swords, axes, bodily hits, James dragging him across the floor with a sword under his neck, it’s all very physical and HHHNNNNNNNNNNNNNN!

4)  It’s also brilliantly disturbing, the acting is indescribable.  There is one scene where a child is hiding in a cupboard.  James sticks a sword through the cupboard and kills him, the kid doing death sounds and then silence.  I can tell you, the audience was dead silent at that scene too.

5)  Jodhpurs.  Skin, tight, jodhpurs.  I felt really bad that when he came out in those for a scene I was no longer looking at his face.

7) Licking of lips.  The man does not stop doing it.  You have no idea how attractive that is when it’s 8 feet away from you.

8)  Although the setting is modern the speech is not, it’s still all proper Shakespeare, and the speeches James memorises, Jesus fuck how to people do it!  I was staring at him at some points while he’s doing these passionate speeches and screaming and yelling and running around still doing all the accompanying acting with it and I’m just…blown away by how amazing he is.  You can see the passion and dedication he has to making this play such a success.

9) He does crazy extremely well.  He needs to do more crazy things.  Like when he starts hallucinating the floating dagger, he looks up at it terrified flinging himself backwards falling over chairs, even though we see nothing there, the fear in his eyes, oh my god.

10)  James said once he finds crying on cue really easy.  I can now confirm that.  Tears down his face when he hears Lady MacBeth has killed herself, god this man is perfect.

11) We all know it’s a trick of the light, but at some points when he’s doing his speeches and he’s looking up around the audience, there are some moments when it looks like he’s looking straight at you, and it happens quite a few times to me and my heart just FREEZES, you dare move dare breath hoping the moment will last forever as James McAvoy recites Shakespeare right at you.

12) At the end of the play we gave a standing ovation, and the actors come out to bow and everything, and James was mouthing “Thank you” to everyone. SQUEEEEE!

So, after the play our little tumblr group legged it around to the backstage door but unfortunately James nor anyone else was coming out because they have to get ready for the 7.30pm show.  Fair enough. So we went for a meal and fangirled about the show than at about 8pm we went to the back stage door to queue.  

There was no one there at that time but you never know when a crowd might appear and we wanted to be first at the barriers.  So we waited, and waited, and froze, and froze, and I was genuinely standing there shivering and could no longer feel my fingers or toes or legs or basically anything.  

Must have been around…10.30pm-ish, when a guy came out to the put the barriers up.  After all that time we were STILL the only ones there, but he said to us that James will be coming out but he’s extremely tired, has been here all day, and won’t be autographing as many people as usual.  

Which made us glad to be at the front.

Eventually a few more people trickled around and queued behind us and then the 7.30pm show ended and a HUGE crowd of people came and queued.  Just over half an hour later the actors stared drifting out, and James was last, coming out holding his motorbike helmet, and you know in the old cartoon The Animaniacs they have that phrase “Helloooooo Nurse!”  

I went, “Hellooooo Mr McAvoy!” But actually not in a creepy way, I was rather proud of myself, it was more of just a greeting (yes it was, believe me it was fine lol).  The thing is, whether between my brain literally freezing in the cold and/or freezing in fangirlness, I hardly remember what happened from that point on regarding his interaction with me!  

Me and fellow tumblrian thort0ise were the first in line.  She’d drawn a gorgeous picture of him in Atonement which she got him to sign:

I leave the story for her to tell as it is her experience (let’s just say he really liked the picture and made thort0ise cry XD) but this is how close I was to him!

Then he looked at me.  And this is where I don’t remember anything.  I’m pretty sure I said something along the lines of “I think you’re an amazingly talented actor”, but if he said anything in return, I don’t know. It’s left my brain entirely. BUT HE SIGNED MY PROGRAM! AND TOUCHED MY PEN!

Because the guy before though said James was really tired (and you could see it in James’ eyes, the guy was knackered!) I decided not to ask him for a photograph of us together so he could get away quickly back home. BUT THEN EVERYONE ELSE BEHIND STARTED DOING IT! AND HE WAS FINE WITH IT.  I took a photo of thort0ise with him (which I’ll leave for her to upload if she wants), but I was still like, WAAAAAAAAAAH I DIDN’T GET MY PHOTO WITH HIM!

Next time dammit, next time!

Because of James wanting to go home asap I didn’t quite know how to approach him about the bag I was carrying full of toys that groovyhornbill had made for James’ son, and I’d moved out of line out the way and still holding it. I stood awkwardly by the security guard who was beside James waiting for him to give a few more signatures trying to find the opportune moment, and then just before the next person came up to get him to sign something I quickly butted back in and very quickly said, “Mr McAvoy a friend of mine from overseas who couldn’t come to see the play has made these as a gift for your son.” and he looked at me and took the bag and looked inside and literally went “Oooo!” then put the bag down by the door and looked back at me and said, “I’ll have to leave it here at the studio for tonight though as I’m going home on my motorbike, is that alright?”

In reality I waved him off and said “Yeah yeah of course it’s fine!” when in my brain I was going, “You’re asking ME if it’s okay?!?!? ASLKDJGXFGNSALK! Like I’m going to say OF COURSE ITS NOT OKAY TAKE IT HOME IMMEDIATELY!” I LOVE YOOOOOOU! YOU’RE SO NIIIIIICE!!!

So I actually ended up having a friendly normal conversation with him.  No embarrassment at all, he comes across as SUCH a down to earth guy he makes you feel so comfortable there were no embarrassments whatsoever!

So yeah, groovyhornbill he will be taking your gift home today with him XD

I was going to stand there once I’d moved out the way to take a billion more photos of him, but my fingers could no longer work my camera, I swear I was going to get frostbite.  The only picture I managed was this shit one:

Still, look at the darkness around his eyes, he was totally exhausted. 

So that was about it!  Next time I am getting my photo with him dammit!  I’m booking it to see it again!! I’m already seeing it on it’s last night, but I’m going again!
